Purpose of the study: to compare the degree of stress induced by simulated septoplasty and other models of sensory deprivation of the olfactory analyzer based on the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) in rats. Material and Methods: The study was carried out on 20 sexually mature male Wistar rats. The effect of simulated septoplasty and simulated sensory deprivation of the olfactory analyzer in rats on the changes of HRV frequency range was assessed.
Conclusion: Bulbectomy provokes more pronounced changes in HRV in rats compared with simulated septoplasty. Key words: septoplasty, stress, bulbectomy, heart rate variability
