Hypercalcemia is a laboratory syndrome that, depending on the severity, may be accompanied by clinical manifestations or be asymptomatic. Parathyroid hormone levels may be elevated or normal when calcium levels are elevated. It is important to note that hypercalcemia can be both a manifestation of primary endocrine disease and a consequence of a variety of systemic conditions, including malignant tumors.
A clinical case. This article describes the clinical presentation, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment of a patient with primary hyperparathyroidism and a history of breast cancer.
Conclusion. Diagnosis and treatment of hypercalcemia are complex problems that require a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to prevent complications and improve the patient’s quality of life.
